Singapore Construction SMEs record 25.6% revenue plunge in 2014

Small and medium enterprises in the construction sector posted a 25.6% plunge in revenue last year, while the number of loss-making SMEs increased by 14%.

Data from DP Information Group showed that there were 130 loss-making companies among the 1000 largest SMEs in the country, compared to just 114 in 2014.

The construction sector posted the biggest drop in revenue, while the 14.9% revenue decline posted by wholesalers came in as a far second.

Retailers did not fare well either, with a combined revenue drop of 13.8%. Property SMEs also posted an 11.3% decline in revenue.
