KUALA LUMPUR: The Construction Industry Payment and Adjudication Act 2012 (CIPAA), which deals with construction-industry related cases in the country, comes into effect today.

Works Minister Datuk Fadillah Yusof said the enforcement of the act was in line with the launching of two specialist construction courts here yesterday.

“Implementing CIPAA will bring relief to the construction industry as it provides a potential remedy to serious problems associated with delayed (payment), non-payment and protracted resolution of construction disputes,” Fadillah said after jointly launching the courts with Chief Justice Tun Arifin Zakaria at the Duta Court Complex here.

The courts, one each at Duta Court Complex and Shah Alam, had been operating since April last year.
