Chief Executive CY Leung says co-location of boundary control arrangements at the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link’s West Kowloon terminus can be achieved.
Speaking to reporters during his visit to Guangdong, Mr Leung said similar co-location arrangements can be found overseas, such as those between Canada and the US, and the UK and the rest of Europe, which do not affect relations between those countries.
He added that the co-location details need further consideration, but the arrangement should not be seen as impacting the “one country, two systems” principle and Hong Kong’s high degree of autonomy.
Commenting on some lawmakers trying to filibuster funding approval for Government projects, Mr Leung said such acts further delay the works’ progress, and the convenience and economic benefits they will bring. He also believed Hong Kong people did not support the delay tactics.
Rail co-location achievable: Chief Executive.
