Probe urged into cheating on MTR exams

The Electrical & Mechanical Services Department has asked the Mass Transit Railway Corporation to investigate claims of cheating by its staff.

The department said today it has grave concerns about a media report on MTR staff cheating in qualification assessments.

It has asked the corporation to submit detailed information to ensure the entire staff assessment process is conducted in strict accordance with the corporation’s requirements and guidelines.

Noting the MTR has a daily patronage of over five million, the department said the rail system’s safety and reliability is of utmost importance.

It will conduct regular inspections and monitor the corporation’s compliance with its safety management system, including staff training and competence management, to ensure railway safety, it added.
