MTRC proposal being examined

The Highways Department and the Buildings Department are examining the preliminary load test proposal on the Shatin to Central Link’s Hung Hom Station platform submitted by the Mass Transit Railway Corporation.

The MTRC submitted the proposal prepared by an independent expert on June 22 regarding the incident relating to the construction quality of the Hung Hom Station platform upon the Highways Department’s request.

In a statement today, the Highways Department said the Buildings Department will listen to the views of its appointed overseas structural construction safety expert.

After incorporating the comments from the Buildings Department, the Highways Department will reply to the railway operator as soon as possible.

The MTRC will then submit a detailed proposal to the Government for examination so comprehensive testing to verify the loading capacity of the platform structure can be conducted.
