Hung Hom Station inspected

The Highways Department has inspected works at the Hung Hom MTR Station and asked the Mass Transit Railway Corporation to submit an incident report within a week.

In a statement, the department said has taken immediate follow-up action over media reports on the quality of works at the station.

The department and its monitoring and verification consultant inspected the works yesterday to see the condition of the site and check inspection records.

No serious crack or water leakage was seen in the concrete structures.

Director of Highways Daniel Chung met the corporation’s senior officers today and reiterated the department’s concerns and the corporation’s responsibility to ensure the quality of works.

The department has ordered the corporation to arrange an independent expert to conduct a load test as soon as possible and submit a test report to ensure the structures can sustain the design loads.
