Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge facilities set for 2016 completion

According to The Transport & Housing Bureau three out of four work contracts for the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge boundary crossing facilities will be completed by 2016.

In response to newspaper reports, the THB issued a statement today, saying that a traffic control and surveillance system will be completed in phases and does not need to be in place when the bridge is finished.

The system will be completed by the end of 2017.

The statement added that due to a surge in construction workers’ wages and the price of construction materials and machinery in recent years, the approved project estimate has to be increased by about $5 billion.
