The Buildings Department approved 24 building plans in January – three on Hong Kong Island, 11 in Kowloon and 10 in the New Territories. Sixteen were for apartment and apartment-commercial developments, six were for commercial developments, one was for a factory and industrial development, and one was for a community-services development.
Consent was given for work to start on 16 building projects that, when completed, will provide 66,462 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 1,099 units, and 59,620 sq m of gross floor area for non-domestic use.
The department also issued 12 occupation permits – five on Hong Kong Island, five in Kowloon and two in the New Territories. The buildings certified for occupation have 20,163 sq m of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 233 units, and 37,337 sq m for non-domestic use. The declared cost of new buildings completed in the month totalled $1.4 billion.
