Construction workers allege wrongful dismissal

A group of construction workers went to the Labor Affairs Bureau (DSAL) yesterday, asking for assistance in obtaining compensation for what they argue was wrongful dismissal.
According to one former employee, he and his colleagues worked for a construction firm called Vaford Group. The company recruited migrant workers at the end of last year, and dismissed some 40 local workers who were responsible for interior decoration. The local workers’ representative alleges that, despite the dismissal, the company is still using their information in order to be allowed to hire a higher quota of non-local workers.
