AECOM bags HK$248 mil contract to relocate sha tin sewage treatment works

The Drainage Services Department has signed a $248 million consultancy agreement with AECOM Asia Company for the relocation of the Sha Tin Sewage Treatment Works to caverns.

The investigation and design works are scheduled for completion in phases from 2017, and construction will start afterwards.

Speaking at the signing ceremony today, Director of Drainage Services Daniel Chung said the relocation will release the existing site of about 28 hectares for uses that can improve people’s livelihoods.

He said it is an innovative project that makes effective use of underground space for sustainable development and enhances the environment for the community’s benefit.
