$32b funding sought for Kai Tak park

The government is set to seek HK$3.2 billion from the Legislative Council’s Finance Committee to build a massive sports park in Kai Tak.

The project involves a 50-thousand seater multi-purpose stadium, a public sports ground housing 5,000 spectators and another indoor sports centre.

In documents submitted to the legislature, the government will apply for the money in the second quarter, and hopes to start construction next year for completion in 2022.

The winning bidder, will have to sign a 25-year contract to design, build, and operate the sports park.-RTHK
