Hong Kong: 21 building plans approved totalling $4.6 billion

The Buildings Department approved 21 building plans in February – three on Hong Kong Island, six in Kowloon and 12 in the New Territories.

Eight were for apartment and apartment-commercial developments, four for commercial developments, two for factory and industrial developments, and seven for community services development.

Consent was given for work to start on 12 building projects that will provide 39,103 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 1,007 units, and 118,314 sq m of gross floor area for non-domestic use.

The department received notification of the start of work for nine building projects. It also issued 13 occupation permits – nine on Hong Kong Island, two in Kowloon and two in the New Territories.

The buildings certified for occupation have 87,666 sq m of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 771 units, and 45,657 sq m for non-domestic use.

The declared cost of new buildings completed in February totalled $4.6 billion.
