A five-year-old overpass in Zhengzhou city, Henan province is set to be demolished to make way for construction on the city’s underground metro system.
The overpass is located at the intersection of Huanghe Road and Wenhua Road in the city. The estimated cost of the building was a hefty 2.7 million yuan, said Dahe News.
Numerous residents naturally complained that the overpass was a big ol’ waste of resources and public money, seeing as they only got to use it for about five years.
According to the residents, many other short-lived buildings in the city have been demolished in recent years. A four-year-old overpass across the city’s zoo as well as an eight-year-old overpass on Erqi Square have already been retired. A total of 22 BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) stations in the city, none older than five years, will be torn down soon, too.
